Testing systems

Well, here we go.  Testing out all the things we think we will be using on the trip, and getting the packing going in earnest!

Starting with piles and winnowing them down.  Some times that means testing waterproof socks -

Other times that means seeing how a really big bike fits into a really big box -

For folks keeping track at home, a tandem without seats or wheels, in a deluxe travel box seems to weigh about 60 pounds, which is 10 under max for the airlines.  We didn’t know whether we could get them light enough or not, so it is great news that they should work.

We are also testing things like typing on our travel keyboard into the phone and posting from there. Not perfect, but a far cry from two thumbs poking away at a phone screen.  Also we seem to be getting the hang of moving pictures from the camera to the phone, so we can keep them uploaded and the whole system working.

So many final details, and only a few more days to get them done.  So far no problems that we can’t overcome.
