Happy Father’s Day!
Today we packed up in the rain while Ruby lounged in the tent. I actually think it should have been Daddy lounging in the tent, but too bad.
We ended up starting out on our bikes by 10:30 am. By now the rain had stopped. We went to a boulangerie for second breakfast. We ate our treats on a bridge a few miles down the road.
We decided to take roads instead of the canal path today because the path wasn’t paved. But to do that, we had to sacrifice the flat. Up, down, up, down. But it wasn’t too bad.
We ate lunch after 16 miles. I had peanut butter spoons and fruit.
Then we biked another 9 miles to the town of Blain and found our campground. Then we walked for a few minutes to an amazing chateau, which was ten times better than the last one, although it is still owned by the Rohans.
We were allowed to go up into a tower with all kinds of Medieval weapons and armor. Plus it was free and there was no guided tour!
Tonight we are planning to go out for supper to celebrate Father’s Day. The sun is still shining and our tents are dry.

P.P.S. Today we saw a super muscular pig!!!

Great entry, Lyle! Thanks for giving us all that good information. Sunshine and dry tents... what more could you ask for? Hope you all sleep well and the dry continues. And we love thinking about you having your 'second breakfast'! Another day and you'll be in Nantes, and the Loire Valley! Good job!
ReplyDeleteAmazing supper out with spectacular dessert! Yum! Hope you’re having a great Father’s Day. We miss you!!!
DeleteIt has been a wonderful day. Clara baked an incredible cake... round, with two layers and lots of incredible icing!.... and we all went for a swim in the river and a picnic on the beach! So nice you could go out to dinner and have a great dessert too! Lyle, forgot to mention the great picture of you with ... I guess it's your mom? Is that outfit what she sleeps in? Doesn't look practical for biking, tho.
ReplyDeleteWe're missing you guys too. Keep on havin' fun! And blue skies!
What a great blogpost, Lyle! You had fun in that castle. How cool that you saw authentic weapons and chain mail (or was that your mom?) That sword looked just like the ones you draw. How did that horse get so muscular?! Thanks for the excellent report!
ReplyDeleteLove the shots of muscular critters found along the way! Happy Father's Day!
ReplyDeleteThat is one buff horse! The castle looks so fun!!!
