Plymouth at Last
After ten days and 304 miles of British hills, we have finally arrived at Giorgio, Martina, and Rocco’s beautiful home in Plymouth. We rolled into town yesterday afternoon. We were all super ready for a break from the bikes.
It’s hard to believe it’s been nine years since Giorgio and Martina moved here from Corvallis. We have been enjoying their little dog, Gigia...
... and their incredible Italian hospitality. They are still masters in the kitchen and we are being thoroughly spoiled.

Tonight was Giorgio’s famous pizza with Martina’s amazing whole wheat sourdough crust (best in the world).

I don’t know how we’ll ever get back on the bikes after lying around eating for three days. We’ll worry about that later. For now, we’re just really enjoying their company, and grateful to be out of the rain (it’s been pouring today).
A rainy day meant lots of time for relaxing indoors and snuggling Gigia.
We catch the ferry to Roscoff in Brittany Sunday evening. We’re still working out our next steps after we arrive in France, and will keep you posted. More baguettes in our future — that’s for sure!

Great pix! Not surprised to see what a handsome boy Rocco has become.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the excellent update. 9 years? They are good people. So are you doing the overnight ferry? I see there are a number of biking routes on the maps headed east from Roscoff... one that looks good goes along the coast and you can either continue to Paris or cut south to the Loire . Ach... I'm starting to feel we should be joining you! Nantes, Angers, Tours, Blois... some of the best biking we ever did. And the most wonderful little towns with campgrounds and playgrounds and pattiseries. Ah... life will be very fine! Alors! And sunshine! And tail winds!
ReplyDeleteI think you should measure the circumference of your thighs now and at the end of the trip! They are going to look like old growth tree trunks by the end of your trip. Enjoy your rest!
ReplyDeleteHappy well-deserved relaxing!! Love the baguette nose!
