Vive la Baguette

The kids woke up hungry this morning and devoured nectarines, oranges, and bananas in our hotel room. Then we walked to a bakery for apple turn-overs, tarts, coissants, and raisin buns. Aside from the weather, it’s really and truly all about the food.
Lunch was a picnic in Mael-Carhaix.

Later in the day, the kids were pretty excited to try out the baguette vending machine. Put in 1.20 Euros, and voila!

Thanks to Dave’s efforts and last night’s handy hotel room, all our stuff was dry again today and the bikes were clean and well oiled. We stayed off the voie verte and on pavement. A few more hills, but better surfaces.

Another 30 miles today and now we are in Caurel just up the road from Mur-de-Bretagne. Our very thoughtful campground host drove to the next town and brought back a bottle of white wine for us. Supper was pesto, cherry tomatoes, peaches, yogurt, honey... and baguette. The kids announced that we were eating poop emoji pasta, and it was pretty much true. Yum!

This evening we dragged the kids away from their books and took an evening walk along Le Lac.

Very fun to go exploring on foot.

And... read more by the lake. Why not?

The rain held off for the most part, until now — it is absolutely pouring as I write this in our tent. Good timing!
If we can do another ~30 miles tomorrow, we’ll be in Josselin. But who knows.
